As part of our project supporting Phase 2 of the integrated disease surveillance (PASÉi2), an inter-country regional conference held from the 6th to the 17th of April 2009, provided the opportunity to bring around the same table 12 seasoned professionals from five different countries covered by the project (Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali and Nigeria). The main objective of this meeting was to update the PASÉi 2 field epidemiology training manual and create two guides (field work follow-up and writing of a memorandum) for schools / national training institutes of each country, who are now responsible for providing intervention epidemiology training.
During the project’s extension phase (2009-2011), it is expected that all of these training institutions will be able to provide a standardized course program to each and every country. For this purpose, a partnership agreement between the Ministry of Public Health, schools, institutes and PASÉi 2 was signed in each country in order to set in motion the process of regionalization of field epidemiology training intended for medical and paramedical personnel.
