Maternity with fewer risks in the Boulsa Health District in Burkina Faso
(2001)

During the course of the year 2001, CCISD will undertake a feasibility study for an intervention to promote maternity with fewer risks in the district of Boulsa in Burkina Faso. This study is a continuation of the efforts made in the reproductive health sector since 1992, particularly in terms of maternity with fewer risks. CCISD had already participated in drafting the national strategy for maternity without risk as well as participating in a feasibility study for integrating the strategy in the district of Yako.

This project is intended to improve the health of women by contributing to reducing maternal mortality and morbidity in a significant manner by supporting health services, and by encouraging women, their organizations and the community to become involved in promoting better health and in the defining and providing of health services.

It should be emphasized that the Dutch Royal Embassy has invited the CCISD Women's Health subcommittee to undertake this study.
