Fight against AIDS and STIs in Burkina Faso: assistance to the national committee in the fight against AIDS and STIs
(1997-2000)

In 1997, the national committee in the fight against AIDS and STIs in Burkina Faso received technical assistance equal to the honorariums for 36 person-months, financed by the World Bank. Under CCISD management, this assistance was aimed at strengthening the technical and organizational capacity of the Permanent Secretariat for the committee to fight against AIDS and STIs, and for the development, implementation and coordination of the national multisectoral program. In all, no less than sixteen consultants were mobilized for the project.

The Permanent Secretariat for the committee to fight against AIDS and STIs has undergone a significant reorganization since 1997, and received professional support, especially for implementation of its programs. However, the assimilation and transfer of skills to the intended managers was only partially successful, resulting in putting off completion of the national plan until 2001.
