CCISD
Established in Quebec since 1987, the Center for International Cooperation in Health and Development (Centre de cooperation internationale en santé et développement or CCISD) became a non-profit corporation in 1996, under the Canada Corporations Act. With a team of 150 experts in Africa, Central America and Canada, CCISD specializes in creating, developing and managing international health projects.
For over 20 years, the CCISD has been leading structured actions within the scope of its areas of expertise: fight against HIV/AIDS, epidemiological surveillance, primary health care. Intervention strategies include support to governance, community participation, performance measures, gender equity and equality, etc. To date, they have conducted more than 100 projects in 25 different countries.
CCISD’s approach is mostly empowerment-based, respecting the countries’ will to take control of their own development in the health sector. Support is provided through coaching, helping local resources gain a concrete appropriation of knowledge, and ensuring that actions will be sustained for the long run.
